Every car that comes from a factory has orange peel. It is caused when the tiny droplets of paint hit the surface and "splash". As the color expands after contact, it quickly begins to dry before it can float-out to a smooth surface. If the gun were too close to the surface, peel would be more severe. Same thing if the pressure were too high.
Darker colors magnify this more than light colors. Whenever you see a vehicle without the peel, it has been color-sanded in progressively finer grits before being polished...by an individual! I see all makes of cars in Manhattan; Benzs, Lexus, Infinifi, BMW, etc. and ALL have orange peel which means that no human is color-sanding after paint application. The painting machines are set to minimize the peel, but, one day can be different from the next in the manufacturing process.
