Hi Saabers,
Thought I would share my latest experience on the Saab Continuim.
I was replacing the alternator bushings with some urathane(sp)bushings from Swedish Dynamics. I was armed with my Bentley, a printed procedure from Townsend Imports and three hours of time dedicated to the task. Thinking I won't need the full three hours.
Everything is going well until my flourescent trouble light burns out. Of course no spare. I'm buying two. Back to the old incadescent bulb. The replacement light starts to melt stuff, reminding me why I stopped using it in the first place.
Come to the step of removing the bolt that attaches both the a/c bracket and alternator bracket to the block. "Easy with a 12mm swivel socket." I don't have a swivel, but I have a universal. I attach my 12mm socket to the universal joint. Naturally the universal is too big to fit in the small space. To add insult to injury, the socket falls down out of sight!
Stores are now closed. Can't do anything more, I retire for the night. Make carpool arrangements with my wife, a Toyota owner. She seizes the opportunity to remind me that I never has these problems when I work on her car. Why don't I just get a Toyota?
Sometimes you just have to sit there and take the abuse from the uninformed.
