To someone experiencing idling irregularities, Chrisx posted:
"The idle should be rock steady at all temps at 850-900 rpm. that is the function of the AIC and idle circuit. For about the 20th time........clamp the top AIC hose and set base idle to 900. then verify that Throttle position switch actuates JUST as throttle comes off stop. unclamp hose and voila.... "
Would someone take pity on me and explain this procedure in more detail? I'm guessing the AIC top hose is to be clamped with a set of vicegrips or something similar. Won't that deprive the engine of air or is that what we're trying to do? Then, how is the base idle set? Also, how does one verify the activation of the throttle position switch?
