I was driving back from the supermarket today when suddenly I lost all of my power steering. I wasn't even turning when it happened, but I could instantly feel the steering wheel tighten up. Low and behold, when I try to turn it's nearly impossible. I get home and check the fluid level, it's fine, right between cold and full. However, there was a bunch of fluid on the outside of the cap and on the container like it had exploded out somehow. My power steering fluid has had a slow leak for a while and I've had to add fluid probably once a month. I actually just added fluid yesterday, so I know the levels were great. I'm usually careful not to overfill it also. I'm hoping the whole rack didn't just die but I have a bad feeling! It's weird because the steering was absolutley fine, until it just died, it didn't give me any warning at all. I'm hoping for some good news as I'm a poor college student who can't afford a new power steering rack! Thanks in advance for any help!
