I removed the headlight assembly from the car (remove parking light assembly - loosen 2 nuts and 1 torx screw and let the unit hang down, unplug connector from headlight bulb, remove 2 torx screws from top of headlamp assembly and lift out - 10 minutes tops) and poured a mixture of CLR (commercial household lime deposit remover), warm water and a couple of squirts of dish detergent (makes the water 'wetter'). I sloshed this around and rinsed it out using the garden hose at a 'soaker' setting. I left the unit in the sun to dry as I didn't have an air hose and the lense is now crystal clear. Others have suggested using chipped ice to act as an abrasive I felt that was too risky. BTW no damage at all to the seal.
