Pat's right ... the outer 2 e-brake rod o-rings get the thick, grey grease. Where the rod goes in from the back is a greased pocked that does not see brake fluid, but does see water if the outer o-rings go bad.
Note: ea of the 3 rings is different in size.
Make sure the e-brake rod easily turns the internal cam/disc that it engages inside the indirect piston.
