My wife's '88 900S Auto has this annoying habit that I have not been able to figure out. The morning after it rains (or snows sometimes) and the car has been sitting several hours, it turns over, but doesn't want to start for maybe 10 x 15 second cranks. There's lots of spark, luckily. It wants to catch after a few seconds but doesn't. Eventually, it catches and sputters and smoothes out after you gun it a couple times and then starts and runs fine the rest of the day. It doesn't do it if you drive in the rain or through deep water. It seems like a condensation problem, but where? I have changed the cap and rotor. I have soaked the cap and wires with lithium grease and WD 40. I have tried starting fluid. It makes no difference.
I have promised I'll fix it before it gets cold. I know it has a bad Air Mass Meter and I am replacing that soon with a reman. Could that be the issue?
Any thoughts much appreciated.
