'The Time-Delay feature' Posted by Kevin K [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: The Time-Delay feature still works, Mark Gee, Mon, 24 Sep 2001 13:19:11 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
this relates to circuits where a timer-in-relay is used to limit how long fans can run after shutdown .... they either stop per thermo switch, or the timer, whichever comes 1st.
Problem was these fancy relays failed often ... either no fans or non-stop fans.
It was first used in 84, and discontinued around 91-92. Models before and after would still allow fan use after shut down, and fans would stop per the thermo-switch.
your new relay is NOT a 'Time-delay', so fans will always stop based on thermo switch condition. New relay pin 86 is relay coil supply volts, and pin 85 is the coil ground thru the thermo switch ( if batt volts not at 86's socket, then then 30 and 86 may be bridged inside the relay). As always, 30 and 87 are the high current load pins.
