OK here's the deal:86 900T, 5 speed,175 k miles. I installed reblt driver's side axle/cvjoint assembly. Also pair of new bj's. 3-year-old KYB's still good/ not clunking. New wheel bearings on driver's side. Did NOT yet put in the pass side axle/cv assembly, or the bj's on that side. Neither inner driver has been touched - not enuff time to do all.
The new noise, which I can easily distinguish from the pass side balljoints clunking, sounds just like a telltale bad c/v - not exactly a "click-click" on rite hand turns, but kind of like a similar feel - and it seems to only show itself on rite-hand turns, especially under acceleration or a change in gradient(ie uphill or as I turn right on a grade)
What I'm wondering is does it sound like the c/v on the pass side, which I have not done yet, or an inner driver noise? I do have a little of the characteristic worn driver vibration when I am at speed and really on the pedal. I also know the pass side driver will wear out quicker since it lives rite next to the exhaust. And it doesn't seem to be coming from the newly reblt driver's side, though I have thought of the possibility it may be a badly redone cv joint.
Thanx for any ideas - w/ 2 kids and typical fam expenses, and not enuff time on the weekends, I was hoping to just make it better one piece at a time rather than do axle/cv/bj's/drivers/wheel bearing simultaneously - although yes, that would be the way to do it.
The perpetual shadetree (gravel driveway) mechanic in me refuses to take it to the shop unless it's a really tough job.
