check over by my trusted indie shop (he found a small leak at the up-shift sender, fixed at no charge). He had previously replaced the clutch, fixed the sloppy clutch pedal to master cylinder clevis pin hole, replaced the oil pump seal, trunk lock motor, replaced the A/C hoses and recharged the A/C system earlier this year. I put a new thermostat and temp sensor in along with new rad hoses. About AAA, or CAA in my case, I have mixed feelings. Tow truck drivers are generally all the same regardless of employeer. Sometimes you get a great one. If the only benefit I require of AAA/CAA is a tow then I believe the Walmart concept is much more cost effective.

About the drain plug, engine vs transmission, as I said I plan on making a pest of myself while the car is being serviced. Having my own filter ready is a great thought and I will put one in the trunk for the trip (just in case).

Thanks for your input. I will post a note when we get back and let you know what did/did not happen.

Woohoo - off on a road trip, can't wait.
