My Saab dealership recently got bought out.. I had the "new" dealer replace the center pipe for the 3rd time.. it's the 2nd time under warranty. They gave me all kinds of s*** about covering the part-- claimed they didn't have the receipts in their computer although they had done the work less than 2 years before. I had to supply them with a photocopy. They charged me for 1.5 hours to install it. $135 Should the installation work be covered by Saab, or is the warranty just on the part?

You can stop reading here, if you don't want to hear how upset I am about the service I got. I appreciate your informed answer. - Rich

This new dealer botched some of the other simple work I had them do -- like installing new seats-- then w/o doing the required emissions inspection first (as required by law in PA) they claimed it wouldn't pass the safety inspection because of rust. They never actually pulled off tires, checked brakes, steering, etc. --and then to rub salt in my wounds, they charged me $30 for the inspection.

Finally, to make things even worse they tried to sell me a new car. When I got the car back, they hadn't hooked up the safety belt on the passanger side seat (claimed they'd have to replace the belt before they're insurance company would allow them)-- so I wondered why they bothered to do a safety inspection at all-- obviously they can't pass it without seat belts. Funny how they missed that "rust" when it was in for new axels and brakes only 3 weeks ago.

I probably spend $2000-$3000 a year servicing it-- not out of line given it's age-- and I really don't mind spending the money because it's a great car.

So I want to know if I'm getting hosed before I have a friendly chat with
the service manager.

Thanks,
Rich
