the shaft. Unfasten the lower mount and just pull back and forth on the shock 5-6 times, and the top stud will break. Then remove the top nut, bushing and stud stub by hand. takes a minute...provided you can get the shock off the lower mount.
To make intallation easier, Lisle makes a special socket for the half round top of many shocks. Then you hold the top nut with a box end wrench and tighten the shaft with the socket.
