I've had my hatch not open any more after locking it. Mine was easly fixed. From the inside of the car (if it is locked, you have to first crawl in from the front and unscrew two allen head screws that attach the lock mechanism to the hatch) unscrew the lock mechanism allen head screws. The lock basically slides a bar back and forth that either engages or disengages the handle. Engaged = unlocked, disengaged = unlocked. It has a plastic piece (kind of a disk) that is held on a linkage by a nut. All I had to do was adjust the plastic piece so that locking/unlocking slid the bar/plastic piece so that it engaged/disengaged. I also sprayed some wd-40 on the sliding bar. Pretty easy, took about 25 minutes when I didn't have a clue what I was doing.
