...are out? Just instrument cluster, just the main dash and/or center console lights, or all of the above? I have an 86 900S and only one instrument cluster bulb is out. I fixed others, by:
1. Checking the bulb(s) and checking the fuse(s)
2 Owning a good manual (Bentley or Haynes)- wiring diagrams and knowing which color wire does what are invaluable;
3 Check the switches and rheostat involved by unplugging them and testing for continuity, and if those work, then;
4 Test the various leads for each involved part for voltage.
It turned out the main dash lights (heat, fan, etc) were easy- I had just knocked the bulb from its mount and disconnected it somehow when I put in a new radio.
However, my left instrument cluster light doesn't work. I traded the left and right bulbs and still only the right lamp worked. There's no voltage on the thin plastic-ey membrane to the contacts where the bulb contacts touch. So far as I can trace without pulling it all apart, the copper tracks in the circuitry don't seem to have broken. I'm considering a 'fix' somehow here but would like to add to your plea for help as well as add assistance.
Anyone deal with instrument lights? Adapt a new mount to steal power from one bulb for another?
Nate!
