I don't friggin' know ;) , I'm just relating my experience. The only reason I know this is because this is it left me stranded on the side of the highway.

Symptoms: My '86 900T, going down the highway, starts to buck like a misfire or something, comes and goes. On the return trip as soon as I get on the highway, saabster just dies. It's getting dark by this point so I can easily see spark, etc. So I take off the wire from coil to dist. and jam my metal rod up in it, get it close to body frame, and when cranked I'm getting a good spark. I connect the wire back to dis. and check all four spark plug wires in the same manner and I don't get any spark at all. I'm on the side of the road for about a hour and half trying to figure out what's wrong and end up leaving it overnight. The next day I see the corroded black plug connection at the Hall effect sensor, run to the junkyard to get an ok one, splice it fires right up, no problems since (at least related to this).
