Do check for function of oxy sensor and AMM, but the mechanic I trust the most told me the other day that he had finally found an Oxy sensor that actually did not work - and he works on a lot of older and high mile c900's. We have a lot of throuble with 16V c900's here in Portland, OR and the same or similar test. We have found that the cats last a long time unless damaged. One quick and easy - check to make sure you are running the 'colder' plugs - not 'city driving' and give it a dose of octane boost on a half tank of gas. The NOX problem can be associated with too hot combustion. Also don't let the car idle for a long time in line as this can let a marginal cat cool down [ we think ] keep the revs at 2000 while you sit in line. Good luck be very careful of replacing cat without knowing that everything else is correct first, its an expensive try if its not it. And if you do need cat we have found a company here that rebuilds factory cats - they put new guts in the heavy case that fits the car correctly and the cost is just a bit more than a cheap and flimsy aftermarket cat.
