questions and concerns (long)

Spent the weekend replacing crank seal and oil pump o-ring (85 900t). Kind of a PITA. Anyhow my reason for doing this was bad oil leak. It was leaking onto the exhause pipe and making alot of smoke. So I get the whole mess back together and now the car wont start. Well I guess you can say wont stay running. On or about the tenth time I finally get it to stay running. After I get it running and warmed up the smoke returns. Here is my thinking and I may be wrong because it was dark out. I used some of that junk you buy in a can to remove grease and build-up and such so maybe it is just burning off traces that didnt get washed off. This is still left to be determined since I have not had time to run it again to see if it returns. My main concern is that when it is running and I pull the oil dipstick, smoke comes out. There is also a pfft pfft noise coming from the dipstick tube. Should I be worried?
My second question has to do with the pcv check valve for the turbo. Near as I can tell I dont have one (which may be the cause of my problems). Just straight tube from intake to pcv nipple. Question is should I have one on an 85' turbo? And if so Can I get along without it for time being, plugging the intake side and leaving the valve cover side open?
Third and last question, do I need a belt on my A/C pump? I do not use A/C and the system is fully discharged.
Thanks
Boyd
