Find someone with a late c900 factory manual trans section. I assume the later versions have an expanded chart like the earlier with all the trans and their ratios listed. My manual is an '85. I think the basic 5 gear ratios are all the same with some minor changes in R&P and transfer sprockets for particular models. From '79 thru '85 there are two R&P's, 9:35 thru '81 and 9:33 '82-'85. Trnasfer ratios I find for 5spds are 30:27, 31:26, & 32:25. In the earlier years the dif between 99 & 99T was the transfer ratio that gave the 99 longer legs, but also more sluggish roll out with the higher ratio and low power at low RPM. If you figure out some relationships between performance and trans changes please post. The only thoughts I have had are that the lower ratios would give me better off the line and that I could use the mid '80's base model transfer which was higher to achieve better gas mileage - i.e.: the '85 non turbo 8V was quite a bit slower off the line.
