Alls I got is the complete comprehensive factory service manuals that cover all 900 systems from 79-88(must be at least 2000 pages of information. The fuel system book for 81-88 is 200 pages alone. The elctrical book is at least 600 pages). 17 years of Saab experience helps also. When changing the filter, disconnecting the battery is not required as per Saab. It is required when messing with components that run on electricity, like the fuel pump. A friend of mine just burnt his garage, half his house, his barn, and all three of his cars by messing with the fuel pump without disconnecting the battery. A spark ignited the vapors and that was all she wrote.

I'm not trying to be a smart aleck, I'm just trying to save him from unnecessary work.

This reminds me of the poor Saab owner who posted recently that it cost him $600 for two ball joints and a half shaft at the local yokel. They unnecessarily removed the spring to make the job safer and it cost the owner.

If Tim didn't want our advice he wouldn't have posted his message.
