With my gearbox on its way, I'm starting to seriously go over my options when I install the gearbox. I know every one says to pull the engine when doing the gear box, and I may end up doing it that way, because I think I have a main seal leak, and I'm thinking I prolly ought to change the timing chain then too, since the car has 260 some thousand miles on it, and I have no clue if it has ever been changed. And what I'm looking for is a list of things that can only be done with the engine out. Since cash is tight, I'm going to have to limit it to things that cannot possibly be done with the engine in place. I know the timing chain can be done in car, but if some part is bad, the engine has to be pulled. Was is the guides? Also, can I replace the front and rear main seals without major engine disassembly? If I have to pull apart the engine, I might as well rebuild it, and I don't have the money for that, lol.
