Hey guys,
I tried to take care of my tail light ground problem yesterday by following the Townsend instructions. I located the one inch square that the instructions referred to but I couldn't drill it, I was using a cheapy cordless drill, so I followed the circuit to a rectangle about 3inches long by 1 inch wide which had two plastic plugs in it. I drilled out the plug and installed a new ground wire with a nut and bolt. Here's where things get funky, I start the car try my turn signals all looks good for about 2 seconds when I hear a pop and my turn signals go out and the dash parking brake light comes on as well as my tach dropping to beyond 0 (think if there were negative values on the tach). I turned off the car and she wouldn't start again. So after checking the fuses and replacing the burnt turn signal and back up light fuses and removing the new ground wires from the chassy everything is back to the condition I was trying to fix. So where did I go wrong here? Was I supposed to cut the original ground wires from the wire harness, or am I somehow tapping into the wrong polarity? Please help
Mike
