You may or may not need a new pump, but at any rate, you should be able to fix it yourself as soon as we figure out what exactly is broken. As for a manual, Hayes or the Robert Bently manuals would be of interest to you.
If you turn the car on, without starting it, can you hear the pump? If not, the relay could also be at fault. If it's making a terrible amount of noise, the pump probably is in need of replacement.
If you remove the panel from the floor of the trunk, the fuel pump is under a circular panel on the right. It's pretty easy to replace in general (but getting parts sounds like it's not going to be easy for you). If you do end up ordering parts, you should probably get a fuel filter too.
