Some of you may remember that just over 2 weeks ago I asked about what to do to my car before going on this 2 week "Road Trip" leaving from Ottawa, going north of Lake Superior, down through Madison Wisconsin to St Louis, on to Nashville and Chattanooga and home (we drove the Blueridge with the top down - the only way to see this beautiful area). The 1987 900TC ran like a top. However, there were 3 problems - burned out light bulb, bought new one as spare was left at home! Wonky wiper blade wouldn't clip into arm, bought new one at a NAPA dealer whose computer even showed that the convertible blade was a 16" not the 15" found on the coupe - bonus! After some top down days we again put the top down for another day with the sun and wind. When we stopped for the night the top would raise only about 18" out of the back. The motor pulled it back down and then nothing but motor sounds and no action. I turned the valve in the trunk and we did the manual top up/down for the rest of the trip. When I got home I pulled the rear seat out, shut the valve, looked at the fluid level in the reservoir (it is right at the 'full' mark), I then pulled the handbrake up and touched the up switch. The motor ran for a bit before there was a 'click' in the top mechanism (no motion at all) and the motor was still working. I then touched the down switch and the same thing occurred. What does all this mean. If the motor works and there is fluid in the reservoir is there someting else inhibiting the up/down function. I can't believe that both hydraulic cylinders would fail simultaneously!! Is there something electric that stops all motion in both directions - I did put the top up part way manually, closed the valve and tried the power but no activity! HELP
