There are two 'sensors' associated with keeping the engine cool - the thermostat, and the fan thermoswitch. The thermostat opens and closes, allowing coolant to flow into the radiator. The fan thermoswitch measures radiator temperature, and turns the fan(s) on when the radiator gets too hot.
If you haven't changed the thermostat in the past two years, replace it now with a Saab OEM thermostat. Accept no substitutes.
Beyond that, so much depends on what you've done already, and what the car does. Have you flushed the cooling system recently /regularly? Is the thermostat new, is it the right one?
Does the car overheat sitting in traffic, but it's find driving down the highway? Or is it the other way around? Does the radiator fan come on when the car sits in traffic and the temp gauge creeps up? Is the fan always running, or never running?
