Well, after starting to use a third language to swear/cuss with (english, german, lastly swedish)I found the problem: not amm, ecu, throttle switch, etc. The purge valve on the evap emissions cannister was stuck open. Saabs w. the LH 2.4 system have an electrically operated purge valve located on top of the cannister. If it's working properly you can hear it cycling; speed dependent upon engine speed. This one wasn't making any noise. Checked for voltage at the connector, 12 volts pulsed. I pulled the valve & was able to blow thru it with no effort. Half a can of carb cleaner with a nylon 22 cal. brush; voila! when connected back to the harness it chattered away like crazy. Put everything back together & everything is happy again.
I am assuming that with the valve stuck open the high manifold vac at idle was able to pull fuel vapor directly from the tank. Sort of like a high octane air leak. It's the same principal as looking for vac leaks w a propane torch (unlit of course). when the propane is sucked into the system by a vac leak the mixture becomes richer & the idle will go up.
