I agree with RS, it depends on what was in the tranny for previous lubricant. If it was motor oil, you are fine, but if it was gear oil, the motor oil's detergents will stir up particles and stuff in the transmission, and that is NFG... Either way I would advise flushing the tranny (run 2 or 3 batches of non-detergent motor oil for 200 miles or so each time) make sure that the oil comes out clean on the last time... Then you have a variety of choices for gear oil. MTL is a good lubricant, but I found it to have poor cold shifting (i'm up at school in vermont).. I switched to Honda MTF (a synthentic gear lubricant) which i find to have excellent shifting qualities at all temperatures.. It can be bought for a 3-4 bucks a quart at any Honda car dealership..
