I had a 9000s that would do the same thing sometimes. On my car it turned out to be loose connections at the fuse box. In the 9000 the fuses and relays are over the glove box, and when the car would die I would hit the dash over the fue box and the car would spring to life again!! Sounds like it's a possibility in your car. I would start the car and start tapping around near the fuse box. Don't beat the crap out of anything, just try to jiggle things a bit to see if anything is intermittant there. Also, there are a few connectors on the drivers side wall under the dash that feed into the cabin. I had an 82' 900T that had a little "quirk" there. Same type of thing. When the car wouldn't start, I would fiddle the wires a bit and she would fire right up. I fixed the problem in both cars of course. (Just in case you thought I was driving around punching my SAAB's.) Point is, all SAAB's seems to have some kind of electrical gremlins at one time or another. Be patient and track it down. You'll find it's probably a dirty or loose connection some where. There are other things it could be, just sounds similar to my experience. I'm assuming your car is tuned up, because it could also be an ignition thing, I.E. coil, wires, yatta, yatta, yatta. I know this doesn't sound like any kind of technical test procedure, but with an intermittant problem you have to start somewhere to track it down. Good luck.
