I took the day off from work because I bought a new thermostat and I wanted to install it. Took the AIC valve off and put in the new thermostat. Before replacing the AIC valve, I sprayed some WD40 in the innards and rotated the metal thingy with a screwdriver.
When I got everything back together the car would hardly start w/o giving it gas and would stall out right away. After a few more trys, it stayed running but idled high, until I rapped on the AIC valve with a wrench. The idle went back down to normal but rose up again a few seconds later. Again, some rapping on the valve changed the idle.
I took out the valve and examined the spring loaded plate inside. It is now loose and can easily rotated back with a screwdriver tip. It springs back into position when the pressure is released. It wasn't like that before.
I have a new valve on the way from sobstory. Has anyone else messed-up their valve in this way?
