1988 Saab 900 Turbo Convertible.

I'm having some problems with high idle RPMs. This problem arose about a week and a half ago and was really irritating me. Most of the time the car wants to idle at 1500 to 2000 RPM. I had the alternator replaced earlier this week because it failed and when I got the car back it appeared to be idling fine again. I just assumed that it was running weird perhaps compensating for the failing alternator. Well, last night on the way home from work the high idling returned. It's extremely annoying. The throttle cable and body seem to be fine. Manually under the hood nothing seems to stick or be caught up at all. If I really give it a ton of gas sometimes it will kick down to the acceptable sub 1000 RPM level, but more times than not it just comes back the next time the car comes to idle. I've only had the car about a month and this is the last really annoying thing that I haven't had addressed with it.

I have one other thing I'm going to see if I can get solved here. All my dash lights work fine (I've replaced a few), but the lights behind the temperature controls don't work. What happens is when I start the car in the dark I can see the lights light up, but once the ignition buzzer ends after just starting the car up, they go off. Any ideas what I can do to solve this problem? Thanks.
