If you realize there's probably a layer of carbon on the inside of the oil supply line, you'll visualize how bending the line to remove it might be enough to break the carbon loose. When you re-attach the line and start the engine, the oil flows from engine and takes the (newly) loosened particles directly into the turbo. What I've done is to mount the turbo but leave the top oil line disconnected from the turbo. Then I stick a clean rag under it and disconnect the coil wire. Then spin the engine until oil comes out into the rag, like 15 seconds or so. This last minute flushing isn't as good as replacing the oil line but it beats bolting the supply line on the turbo with that loosened crud in there. I don't disagree with a new line being the best plan.
