Well, I was motoring along in my red 87 900S 3door today, when this guy in a school district truck tries to flag me down. I hesitate, because my on-campus driving record is not too great, and having just left the parking lot through the exit, I figure he wants to yell at me. I downshift and go to lose him, but something makes me stop and roll down my window. It seems he has seen my car on campus and has been trying to get ahold of me for some time. It turns out he has a red 87 900S 3-door with a blown engine, and, get this, good tranny! He wants $100 cool-it's off to get permission from mom to put a parts car in our yard and go hit up my boss for some cash. Miraculously, they both say yes. I hope to pick it up in a week or so, I'm excited!!
Then, I get home and get bitten by the heated seat repair bug. Mine have been dead for a few months, but I never checked the fuse. I pull it and it's broken! I replace it and try to warm up the seats. They don't work (must be a bad pad), so I gave up and went to go inside. I turn the car off, and switch it on again. To my surprise, my seatbelt light, which hasn't worked for a while comes on! It goes off after a few seconds, like it should. For some reason, I open my door and close it again. My dome light had been screwed up so when the ignition was on, the timer wasn't disabled. The lights stayed on for 10secs after I closed the door, no matter what. Now, when I turn on the key, the lights go out. Score! Who would have ever thought these were wired into the seat heater fuse?
BTW- If anyone has some working seat heater pads they want to trade for other parts, email me at bkoeth@csurfers.net
