Thought people might get a kick out of this. The story: I was two days away from buying a great '88 SPG w/ 120k miles on it for $3500. I don't think the seller knew the market that well, otherwise it could have sold for much more. In any event, it was not meant to be. Below is the email I got from him last night. We all mourn the loss of a beautiful specimen.

Hi Erik,

It’s now 4am on Thursday, as I am typing you this email.
I can still hardly believe it, but a vehicle hit our Saab around 1am... It was a hit and run! The neighbor heard the hit and woke me up. Since then, I have been outside with the police and waiting for tow truck.
The Saab is totalled. The other vehicle swerved too wide when making a left turn and smashed the driver’s side. The car is almost in half. It’s a very sad sight, and I am overwhelmed with this tragedy.
Therefore, there is no Saab any longer. So sad :(
