I agree with Andrew - channel locks aren't the tool to use. You'll have to push back the rubber dust boot, which means that you're exposing the piston to dirt. Any chewing up of the surface by the channel locks will also compromise that seal. And I don't know how you can screw the piston all the way in and still get a grip with the channel locks.
I would buy a rebuilt caliper. I just pick them up at my local autoparts chain, cost me about $80. Unscrew the hydraulic line, remove the parking brake line, and insert the new one. You'll need to bleed the system, but if you haven't changed the brake fluid in the past 2-3 years, now's the time.
As to the tool, I've used two. There is a simple tool sold at bike shops for removing chainwheel rings - it's just a "V" of heavy wire that takes a 90 degree bend at the end. About $8, and you can work on your bike, too. I also built a tool out of a long, thin strip of aluminum with two holes drilled near the end, at the same spacing as the holes in the piston face. I stuck some short 6-32 screws through, and that works just fine, too.
Good luck!
