First, thanks to all on the board for all the info I've used so far. I undertook some projects over the weekend (89 900 Turbo)and have created some other problems that I'd like help to fix.
I changed out the factory Clarion tape deck with EQ (and amp on the back on the EQ) to a CD player. The color scheme on the wires from the amp did not match with the Bentley, I couldn't get the rear speakers to work, so I quit for the day with just the front speakers working. I also changed the grommet on the valve cover for the valve (PCV?) before quitting for the night. The next morning, my dash illumination lights no longer work and I can't get above base boost.
The following day, I remove the front seat and pull up the carpet (to run RCA cables to the amp), remove the center console and both front speakers. I traced all the wires back under the dash to the 14? pin connector and find that some of the speaker wires are mismatched in the harness. I traced the wires from the 8 pin power harness (it feeds into the other 14 pin connector) to identify the wire used for deck illumination and cap that off. I checked the fuse for the dash lights and it is fine. The dash lights still don't work (and that's where I am with the lights).
I removed the valve cover and replaced the gasket according to Bentley (including using the sealant), but I still don't have turbo boost. I think I may have to replace all the vacuum lines since on my way to work, the cruise control no longer works. So, those are the three areas I need help.
No turbo boost.
No cruise control.
No dash illumination lights.
The only other work I've done is replace the front brake pads and bleed the brake system.
One other thing, under the carpet of the driver's seat there is a pair of wires not connected to anything. Are they for the door open buzzer (my overhead light doesn't work with the door)? What can I replace it with to get my light to work? Thanks for your help.
