About two weeks ago, the oil warning light went on on my 86 900T.
I drove back home (3 miles) and from there had the car towed to
my favorite Saab mechanics. $1400 later, I am back home with a
replaced oil pump and various parts (including water gastet, motor
mount, various seals etc...), but there is still a clattering noise coming from the engine.
I have asked about this noise when I picked up the car and was told
that it was going to rapidly go away as the replaced parts get oil.
Now I am not happy about the bill that seems huge, and the noise.

But this afternoon, things got worse. Some white smoke starting coming out
of the exhaust. I rapidly pulled over, and just before I turned off the engine,
some smoke came out from under the hood. I waited about an hour and
started the car again. This time, white smoke is only coming from the exhaust,
and only becomes clearly visible at high RPM.
I had a compression test done about two months ago and the compression
was 180 in all 4 cylinders (or at least I was told so). Now I am worried that 3 miles with low oil pressure
destroyed the cylinders. On the other hand, the turbo could be dead too.
It has been doing a whrr noise ever since we have had the car, and as I was last
looking at the APC gauge this afternoon, I observed that the needle never reached
the orange area. Also, when the pressure drops, it seems that having trouble
going back to its neutral position.

What do you guys think? Could it be something that did not get
done properly by the mechanics? We have only driven the car 10 miles since
it came out of the mechanic.
What is the cost of an engine rebuild or a new turbo?
Thanks in advance!

Ludovic
