After looking at (and cleaning off) the whole pulley, it seems that the pulley is two pieces, an inner bit where it fits onto the crank and an outer bit where the belts run. The rubber separates the two and probably is there to kill vibrations (?) Anyways, the surface of the rubber is a little cracked, but the inside rubber is still live and smooth. I dont feel like spending 10 days pay at New Salem to replace a pulley that doesn't seem bad. As for the oil pump job, I dont NEED to do it, pressure's fine and all, but the guide on Tom Townsend's site says essentially "while youre down there, you ought replace the pump's o-ring seal." This so? Is it that big a source of oil leakage? Will I kick myself in 6 mos for not doing so?
