I second that, I still recall my high school physics professor explaining how 4wd doesn't help you control the car, only make it go.
Most of the people I know who drive these SUV's also have another problem: confidence that because's it's a big SUV they can't get hurt even if they have an accident. The 4wd just makes them believe that they can "point and shoot" regardless of conditions. I've thought about an SUV or a truck, but it comes down to this: I don't need it, don't want it, so I'm not going to spend my money on it. I'd rather find a sweet 88-93 SPG as a summer car.
