The master cylinder in the 94 900 turbo conv. is part of an ABS - apparently an extremely expensive part - my mechanic says they go for around $1100 new, but he will sell me a used one for $400 - he says that it will take him about four hours to do the job - I'm sure he's giving me the best deal he can - however, the used part only comes with a 60 day warranty - this is worrying, of course, because if the used master cylinder goes "south" after only a couple of months, I'm looking at another $700 master cylinder job, just to get another used master cylinder.
How often do Saab 900 turbo ABS master cylinders need to be replaced? - in other words, is this a common breakdown, or is the master cylinder usually good for the life of a Saab (250,000 miles give or take)? My Saab has 136,00 miles.
Thanks DougM for your prompt response.
