Yep... done it twice, each time removing about 5lbs. In general, there is nothing to worry about per se, except that the shop doing the lightening shouldn't remove too much to reduce the risk of lowering its structural integrity. I'd strongly recommend having it dynamically rebalanced when done, preferably with the pressure plate attached. Once done, you may have a slightly rougher idle, increased risk of stalling when coming down from high RPM with the clutch in, and potentially reduced lower-end torque. OTOH, expect a free-er revving motor and likely smoother shifting.
