Alternator Belts - any tricks of the trade?

Hi. I am trying to change the alternator belts on my 1989 Saab 900s. I have the PS and A/C belts off, but wanted to clarify the Bentley procedure for the alternator belt. It says simply to loosen the lower alternator mounting bolt, then loosen belts through the tensioner. Getting to the lower alternator mounting bolt is the problem (I had a heck of a time with this when replacing the alternator on my other C900, but removed the A/C which made this a lot easier.) Anyway, does this bolt have to be loosened? or can I loosen just the upper mounting bolt that connects to the adjusting tensioner? How does one keep the other end of the lower bolt(near oil filter) from spinning? Does anyone know what size the head of this bolt is? Thanks! Happy Holidays!
