Sure could be the evap canister, but I could swear it was the vac pump. Sounds on the engine can be "thrown" a bit and I've been fooled by vac leak hisses in the past. Wonder why I never heard it click before...

On the AIC/funky idle subject; the 1500 rpm "stick" occured only during a single trip with the car today. There are three typical idle situations I've been experiencing. The first is the brand new 1500 deal. The second is a lope down to 600 then the kick to 1200 then a slow drop (of fast if brake pedal pressed) to 600 again...and repeat. This is also recent (few days) and is only during individual trips. The third is the typical idle I have which is a consistent 950 rpms - very little loping. I think the 950 is high, but I kind of attribute it to the fact that the last time I had the car tuned and idle set was with my old, poorly functioning fuel pump.

I'm considering the AIC (cleaned it this fall) or AMM. I suppose the O2 sensor could have been fouled by my fuel pump check valve screw up (ran super rich) too. I've gotten no CE light yet, and haven't the time to do the diagnostics on the bits (per Bentley).

Thanks for any further insight. I hate the idle stuff because theres never a clear culprit and the parts are too $ to just replace randomly.
