Machine buffing is fine for all cars provided you follow some important rules. First is using good quality compound say Farecla if you can get it general cutting for a car with reasonable paintwork use Farecla G3. Use a good quality pad on the buffing machine, put compound on the pad sparingly and spray a mist of water over the area to be buffed (use a 500 ml hand spray). Too much water means you get sprayed with the mix from the buff pad this tells you it's too wet. Buff areas about 500 mm x 500mm ata a time, until the compound dries off and the paintwork can be clearly seen again. Most important is the buff RPM - must not exceed 600 RPM. Polishing can be done same way with different - softer - pad on the buff at about 900 RPM. This method uses very little compound as they are designed (better quality ones) to break down into smaller pieces to polish finer as you work. This method isn't much quicker than by hand but I'm sure you get far better results.
