HELP!--- brake light problem... Posted by KenS [Email] ![]() ![]() |
car is a '87 900T--- fuse 31 (15A) blows as soon as you press the brake pedal. I thought it would be either the light sockets, or the switch mounted on the pedal. I disconnect the brake lights at the rear hatch connector, and they look ok. So, I removed the lower dash and started looking--- BUT--- at the switch on the brake pedal, I can see the12V from the fuse box on one red wire, and the switch itself looks ok (switch gives continuity when pressed, is not shorted to ground). The other connector on the brake light switch has a red & white wire--- the white one (I guess) is a cut-off for the APC. If I disconnect the white wire, the remaining red wire looks like it is shorted to ground. The question is, what's the best way to proceed--- what path/connector does this wire take to get from the brake pedal switch to the rear hatch connector? Does this require removing the upper instrument panel? Has anyone out there ever seen this sort of problem before?
