Clarion will fix your radio for you. Last time I checked, it was a flat $80 fee. You send them the radio with a check and a description of the problem, and it comes back in about 3 weeks working fine. They'll fix it as long as the radio hasn't been tampered with (somebody else tried to fix it) or it's physically damaged (somebody tried to fix it with a hammer).
Give them a call to verify the price and the address:
1-800-GO Clarion (main #)
1-800-366-4547 (Customer Support)
1-800-347-8667 (Clarion Service)
Clarion Repairs
661 W. Redondo Beach Blvd.
Gardena CA 90247
Make check out to "Clarion"
You get a 90 day warrantee. You can also send it in through your Saab dealer. You'll get a 1 year warrantee and supposedly faster turn-around. You'll also pay a dealer markup - mine was charging either $125 or $150.
You can buy used, but stick with the same year. The rear connector was different in different years. I would want an assurance that the radio worked fine, and that it comes with the radio code.
I sent my radio in a few years ago (3, 4?) and it came back three weeks to the day from when I sent it out. I got the 90 day warrantee (sent it in myself) and it's been working great ever since. I had them fix two problems (spotty radio reception/buzzing, and a bad power switch) - all for the same flat rate of $80.
