I have my sub amp mounted to the back of the seat (3-door).
I have thought aboutputting it underneath the trunk floor, but I have plenty of other junk in there. Under the back seat is also a good spot, as long as you mount it to a board.
Can't mount it directly to the car body/frame, you'll get chassis interference (or something). A board will help dampen vibration as well.
If you don't have the amp check out crutchfield.com, they'll send you specific info on your car and a general installation guide.
Basically, you'll have to pull your radio, then run RCA (or speaker level)wires and a remote line to the amp. then you'll need to power it (obviously) I ran a power cable from the battery, in the fender near the windshield washer bottle then through the rubber grommet in the firewall. You can then run it under the carpet (or the door sills) back to the trunk or under the seat. Lastly, you need to provide your amp with a ground point, pick a spot, scrape the paint, drill the hole (make sure you not over the GAS TANK) and attach.
Good luck
long live backyard installs :-)
