You shim the upper a-arm, remove the 4 balljoint bolts, and use a coathanger to hang the hub from the spring. Don't forget to break the big nut loose BEFORE jacking the car up if you're replacing the cv joint. I always use loctite threadlocker on the threads instead of buying new nylon locking nuts. If you're only replacing the boot, you can separate the shaft from outer cv without removing either. IT's a pain to expand the c-clip in the cv to get them separated, but it's easier than removing the shaft and cv from the car. I found rebuilt cv at my local foreign parts store for $59./ea. It includes the outer cv, shaft, and both boots! I noticed they don't come with new tripod bearings. The guy's car that I put them in said for that price he didn't care. I bought a brand new cv for my spg.
