Ouch. I am determined to get my 900 leak free - its a quest that my wife dosn't understand on why we just don't get rid of it! Hopefully cured the oil leak and now thinking of the p/s. Great info on the leaky power steering problems.
Since I'm just starting to look at this problem (it was a toss up between p/s or a transmission cooling hose) and that I'm a bit "green" ..."rack" is the rack of the "rack and pinion" I've heard about (no idea what that means though)?
I'm probably going to replace one piece at a time (due to estimated cost) so I can keep my hands dirty all the time. My leak appears to be from a hose (about 1/4 to 1/2" diameter) that connects to a (seemingly) plastic case (about 3 inches in diameter) that has another hose (about 1/4 to 1/2" diameter) leading out from underneath it to (i guess) the power steering pump. Anyone know what this is? Also, it uses a metal clip to clamp it. It looks as though it was crimped together with a plier of some sort. Any tips on what this is and how you undo it or put a new one on would be most welcome. Also, the original p/s hose has a foam wrap around it. Is it necessary to replace this along with the hose?
Thanks in advance for any advice.
