Hi Dean. When the lever is in nuetral can you move it to the right without lifting the lockout collar? It should move very little, only about an inch before it hits the gate, and return to center when you let go. Fifth gear is very close to third, when you move the lever to the right without lifting the collar, fifth gear should be straight up, it is sometimes difficult to know if you are in third or fifth when the car is not moving. How did the shifter rod bushing look when you had it apart?
Have been following your progress on your website, looks great so far, perhaps when you are done we can add some of your 16V info to the auto-manual site? Good luck.
