I followed the Townsend directions, and tried monitoring pin 5 (blue wire) on the ECU while driving, but there is no voltage there. The car is a 87T, so it has just a 2-wire sensor, blue (signal) & black (ground, to pin 8 of the ECU). Continuity of the wires looks ok from the ECU up to where they connect to the back of the speedometer. I'm still a little uncertain of the connection to the back of the speedo, as there are 3 rows of 2-pin connectors, but I tried both combinations on row 1. It's looking like the speed sensor is not putting out any voltage.
Assuming the speed sensor IS bad, how does one go about replacing that? Does it require a whole new speedometer?
