First I want to say how invaluable this site is! It's already helped be solve (and feel more comfortable about) my recent acquisition - a 1983 4dr Turbo sedan. It was a theft recovery that I got from a friend who goes to the auctions frequently for free!

I've already made the shift bolt tool (from a socket) as outlined in many posts on this site and have replaced the ignition lock and gears (total investment - under $100). I fixed a couple of other things - Took apart and repaired the power window motors. The car had been sitting outside a long time and the mechanisms were rusted up - Pacific Northwest climate can be tough:-)

Now to my 2 questions that I need help on:

1. The brake pedal goes nearly to the floor before the brakes engage. It happens consistently and acts like manual brakes - read that as requires firm pressure on pedal. A bottle of brake fluid was in the car which leads me to think master cylinder leak or wear. I don't see any leaks yet however. I've noticed that if I pump the brakes it gets a bit firmer and the engine idle changes (loads down a bit).

2. I get no heat on defroster or heater mode. Things appear to be OK with the switches as airflow changes to the correct vents when the switch is changed.

I noticed a quite few other electrical issues that I resolved by fuse replacement (they look like original fuses!) I ran out of fuses but have stocked up on enough to replace all of them with fresh fuses. I wonder if a fuse issue could have anything to do with these issues?

Sorry for the long post and for any help.
